Tooth Extractions

If you have a tooth that has been damaged badly by decay, tooth extraction may be necessary. Dr. Bennett, Dr. Arnold, and Dr. Woody will do their best to fix the tooth with a filling or crown, but if the damage is excessive, tooth extraction may be the best and safest option for you.

Other reasons that a tooth may be extracted include:

    • Teeth (including baby teeth) are blocking other teeth from coming in
    • Orthodontic treatment that requires the removal of certain teeth to make room for the others being moved
    • Wisdom teeth removal
    • Advanced periodontal disease

During your bi-annual checkup, Dr. Bennett, Dr. Arnold or Dr. Woody will complete a comprehensive exam and assess if any of your teeth need to be extracted. If you are abiding by a thorough oral healthcare routine at home between appointments, tooth extraction will likely not be necessary, other than in the case of wisdom teeth removal, which is a very common procedure.
